On Thursday, the Nevada Athletic Commission suspended Khalil Rountree for four and a half months after being tested positive for Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), a type of steroid hormone. Rountree self-reported the accidental ingestion of a blended supplement. NSAC fined him $157.04 for prosecution fees.
Khalil Rountree was supposed to fight Jamahal Hill at UFC 303 last June. However, Rountree had to withdraw from the fight due to the failed drug test on May 4. His suspension will expire next month.
Dallas Haun, NSAC Chairman, praised Khalil Rountree for self-reporting the matter.
“I’m glad he showed up, and the self-reporting obviously had a great influence on the commission’s decision here. I applaud him for self-reporting.”
The 34-year-old is scheduled to face Alex Pereira for the Light Heavyweight Championship at UFC 307 on October 5.
