Sting’s final match in his pro wrestling career will take place on March 3rd at AEW Revolution in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Icon and Darby Allin are scheduled to defend their AEW World Tag Team Titles against Young Bucks at the show. More than 16,000 fans are expected to attend to witness Sting’s retirement match.
Recently, Kevin Nash said that Sting asked him to attend AEW Revolution. Nash added that he had to turn down the invitation.
“He [Sting] asked me to be a part of it. I just said that because of my positioning with the company, with WWE, I couldn’t. I couldn’t even be there. If I went in the crowd, it would be… He said he wanted me to be there because I was just one of the guys that’s been with him the whole run. He was disappointed. I was disappointed. I knew, I asked. You know when you ask and there’s that three- or four-second pause, and it’s just like, ‘Okay’.”
On the latest episode of Kliq This podcast, Kevin Nash clarified his previous statement. The WWE Hall of Famer noted that he didn’t say that he wouldn’t be able to attend AEW Revolution because of his being on the WWE payroll. Nash added that he doesn’t want to attend the AEW event due to his friendship with Triple H.
“I never said that [that I was on the WWE payroll]. What I said is I’m a WWE guy. I can’t have a picture of me in the crowd, and underneath it says, ‘Is All Elite.’ I just can’t have that. It just doesn’t work. One of my closest f–king friends is Paul Levesque [Triple H]. As much as I love Steve [Sting] and I know he will only have one last match, I will watch it. We will talk about it. I just won’t [be there].
I haven’t been to a WrestleMania, a RAW, a SmackDown, or any of the other pay-per-views. I haven’t been to any events. I don’t want to go to any place and be around a bunch of people, let alone wrestling people. I just don’t want to do it. I’m a hermit, and that’s it.”
