Kenny Omega’s name became the talking point in pro wrestling following his contract expiration rumor. Omega’s AEW deal was supposed to expire in late January. However, Tony Khan has extended Omega’s contract due to injury recovery time.
In an interview with Nick Hausman, Konnan discussed that Kenny Omega’s contract situation blocked Omega’s appearance at the Triplemania pay-per-view this Sunday.
“Originally we were going to bring in Omega but he was still negotiating with AEW and he wasn’t sure if he was going to stay or not. So, we couldn’t commit, and he didn’t want to come here until he signed. So, that was out the window, boom. I’m assuming [Omega has re-signed with AEW]. I never really asked him but there are plans for him in the future so I’m thinking he already signed. But, you know, he wasn’t sure if he was going to stay and WWE was talking to him. You know? So, we couldn’t get him to commit.”

There is a misinterpretation of Konnan’s statement. Some fans thought Kenny Omega has signed a new contract with All Elite Wrestling. Therefore, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer clarified Omega’s contract status as follows.
“Okay, the stuff with Kenny Omega. Konnan did an interview, and it got people thinking that Kenny Omega had signed a new contract. Kenny Omega is under contract with AEW. His contract was extended because he was out for, I think, nine months due to injuries. I believe that he is under contract until around November or December. There is no new deal that’s been signed.”

You mean people didn’t quite understand konnan’s word salad? Did he just throw a bunch of words up in the air and let them fall where they may? It was like listening to the most recent former American president try to describe anything
