Kazuchika Okada competed for the last time in NJPW this past Friday at New Beginning in Sapporo. At the show, Okada and fellow CHAOS members defeated Matt Riddle and United Empire (Jeff Cobb, Great-O-Khan, Callum Newman, & Francesco Akira) in a Ten-Man Tag Team match.
The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion said the following backstage at New Beginning:
“My NJPW career has officially come to an end. Do I really have to say something? [Laugh] I have so many memories with partners, many of whom I was able to team with today [Feb 24]. Getting to fight with CHAOS here in Sapporo… I could have stayed with CHAOS and avoided this feeling of loss… But I can’t go on thinking like that. My next battle is on the horizon, so I’ll do my best there. So many people have helped me get here… I’m so thankful that Mr. Sugabayashi brought me to New Japan. Besides the other wrestlers, I’m so thankful to the staff, fans, [and] media. You’ve all helped to make the Rainmaker. I’m sure we’ll meet again. And I hope to be even greater than I am now. I resigned from the roster earlier, but this really is the last time I’m a part of this organization. Thank you so much.”
