Karrion Kross and Scarlett are officially done with WWE, as both of their contracts expired on August 10. Their final appearance came at SummerSlam, where Kross lost to Sami Zayn… a match he already suspected might be his last in the company.
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Kross revealed that WWE didn’t offer him a contract extension until just days before his deal expired… last Tuesday, to be exact. When he asked how the company came up with the valuation for the offer, no one could tell him. WWE then gave him just 24 hours to accept, warning that the offer would be pulled if he didn’t. Kross said he couldn’t make such a decision without the missing information, so the offer was rescinded.
Scarlett, surprisingly, was never even given a contract offer. When Kross questioned it, WWE told him, “After we deal with you, we’ll deal with her.” He also touched on backstage tension after his post–WrestleMania 41 promo. Some higher-ups thought it was real and were upset, even though Kross believed everyone knew it was part of the storyline. Once he learned Triple H wasn’t on board, he waited for him outside a production meeting to explain that it was all a work.
Karrion Kross believes that, due to Seth Rollins’ fake injury and the situation with R-Truth, people are now unsure of what is real and what is a work. At SummerSlam, he had a gut feeling his match with Zayn was the end. A friend even suggested he say goodbye to the crowd, but Kross declined, not wanting to take the spotlight from Zayn’s big moment.
Since leaving WWE, major promotions have reached out… but not AEW. Kross isn’t shocked, believing some still think his exit is part of a storyline. For now, he’s in no rush to sign anywhere, saying he’s never felt more supported in his life.
