Kairi Sane was written off from WWE television after being attacked by Bayley on the July 27th, 2020 episode of Monday Night RAW. Kairi then announced her departure from WWE. She left the company on good terms. Despite leaving WWE, The Pirate Princess worked for the company as an ambassador until December 2021.
Last November, Kairi became the inaugural IWGP Women’s Champion by defeating Mayu Iwatani at Historic X-Over. Kairi dropped her title to Mercedes Mone at Battle in the Valley last February. She has become a free agent since March.
On Saturday, PWInsider reported that Kairi Sane has agreed to return to WWE. During a press conference, Kairi announced that she will be taking a hiatus from late September. Kairi added that losing the IWGP title factored into her decision to take a hiatus. The 34-year-old also added that she almost considered retiring from pro wrestling. The former NXT Women’s Champion further said that she has received offers from several overseas wrestling promotions.
Dave Meltzer stated that Kairi Sane could be returning to WWE in November.
Kairi Sane last competed on August 4th, where she teamed with Sareee to defeat Arisa Nakajima & Takumi Iroha at Sareee Produce Sareee-ISM Chapter II.
