Last year, WWE teased a match between John Cena and Austin Theory following Cena’s appearance on the June 27th episode of Monday Night RAW. The bout was supposed to take place at the 2022 SummerSlam but it was postponed to WrestleMania due to Cena’s busy schedule.
Last month, John Cena’s new movie “Ricky Stanicky” started production in Australia. Many fans thought Cena wouldn’t be able to compete at this year’s WrestleMania. However, the movie production was wrapped earlier this month.
This past Monday on RAW, the 16-time World Champion made his return to WWE and accepted Austin Theory’s United States Championship challenge at WrestleMania 39.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer reported that John Cena doesn’t have any commitments during WrestleMania season. Therefore, Cena could appear in the upcoming WWE shows.
“Cena actually wrapped up his filming of the movie Ricky Stanicky on 3/4, so he will be available for television over the next several weeks.”
