John Cena is one of the most popular superstars in wrestling industry and even Hollywood. Cena returned to WWE at Money in the Bank last year to a match against Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. However, the 16-time World Champion couldn’t defeat Roman Reigns at SummerSlam. Since then, Cena was absence from WWE television.
Recently we reported that John Cena is set to return in late June. During an interview with Adam’s Apple John Cena teased his potential return. Cena also mentioned his 2002 OVW classmates Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar and Batista.
I know in WWE years I turn 20 pretty soon, so that’s a pretty big thing. And from a pretty storied class of folks Batista, Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar who kind of all turned 20 this year. I’m aware that that’s coming around the corner and who knows?
There’s a lot of cool stuff going on and I don’t want to say no to any of these opportunities that are on my doorstep. So, I don’t know when I’ll be back but hopefully it’s soon. I’ve been gone for too long.
WWE recently celebrated Randy Orton and Batista’s 20 years anniversary. The Leader of Cenation has won 16 world titles throughout his career. He is currently tied with 16-time world champion Ric Flair. Cena could return this year to capture another championship.
In 2015, John Cena made United Championship prestigious with his US open challenges. That helped NXT stars like Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn to jump start their WWE careers. Current United States Champion Theory also has a bright future ahead.
Theory recently appeared on Corey Graves’ After the Bell podcast. During the interview, Theory stated that his ultimate goal is to defend his United States Championship against John Cena.
“It’s just wild. That’s who got me into WWE. At first, I wasn’t crazy about sports entertainment. But I think I was just attached to that character, John Cena, and how it motivated me.
Now to see that come to light and interact with me where I’m at in my career, it’s just amazing, especially what he did say on Twitter. I just thought that it was very interesting, but at the same time very motivating. So, I’m very grateful for that.
You know, it’s WWE. We never know what could happen. I feel like we do have a feeling what could happen pretty soon though. I ultimately want to defend the United States Championship against John Cena.”
Vince McMahon’s protégé Theory could becomes the face of WWE if this match happen. Previously WrestleVotes reported that Vince “sees a young John Cena in Theory”. Even John Cena gave a motivating advice to Theory last month.
“Everyone understands that you have far more talent, strength, and gifts than I ever had. Don’t apologize for that. Ever. An apology should come 20 years from now if you fail to provide the EFFORT needed to turn your potential into your legacy. I hope that day never comes.“
