Last Friday, Jake Paul defeated 58-year-old Mike Tyson by unanimous decision in front of 70,000 fans at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. More than 100 million watched the event on Netflix.
However, the boxing match received negative reactions from the fans. Some stated that the fight was rigged. On the Impaulsive podcast, Jake Paul responded to fans’ criticism.
“People are like, ‘Oh yeah, it’s rigged because look at him on the pads, but he didn’t do this in the fight,’ because someone is f–king punching back you dumb f–ks, People don’t realize my power, my jab, my speed, my ability, and my footwork to get out of the way of those punches, so then all of a sudden he’s throwing at, literally, air. He [Mike Tyson] can’t land those punches on me.
I mean, what do they want? They just want me to lose. That’s the only way they would’ve thought it was entertaining. This is fighting. This is the sport. Sometimes there’s going to be NFL games where they score 10 points each, and it’s f–king boring.
What do you want? What happened happened. All possibilities are there when you go into a fight. And then if I would’ve knocked Mike [Tyson] out, they still would’ve hated and been like, ‘Jake’s a f–king a–hole. They’re literally finding any reason to hate on any part of it, so it’s not just as simple as, I didn’t like that.”
