Gunther is scheduled to defend his Intercontinental Championship against The Miz at Survivor Series this Saturday. Last night, Gunther met Miz face-to-face ahead of the title match.
The 36-year-old proved that he belonged in the main event scene with his promo on last night’s show.
In a recent interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, The Ring General stated that he doesn’t want to compare himself with the World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins and the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
Intercontinental Champion stated that Rollins is in a difficult situation with the new championship because he has to establish it and add some prestige to it. Gunther then stated that Roman Reigns doesn’t need to defend the title as often because Reigns has been the champion for so long.
“Roman is in a completely different category. He’s been champion for so long. Obviously, he’s not defending the title that often, but at this stage of the title run, he doesn’t need to. It should only happen a few times of the year, very special occasions.”
