Goldberg returned to WWE for a one-last match against Brock Lesnar in 2016. The bout took place at the 2016 Survivor Series which was won by Goldberg in a quick fashion.
WWE Hall of Famer then competed sporadically on premium live events. Most of the time Goldberg wrestled in Saudi events due to the crown prince’s demand.
The 56-year-old star competed at the 2022 Elimination Chamber PLE where he lost to Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. Since then, Goldberg wasn’t seen on WWE television.
In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Goldberg was asked about returning to the squared circle one more time. He stated that WWE owes him a retirement match.
“You never say never, especially in wrestling, and they owe me one, That’s all I can say. I made a deal with the devil and I did my job, and they owe me a retirement match. At the end of the day, at 56, it’s not something where I’m sitting by the phone waiting for a call. I’ve got a few ideas of how to do it on my own, possibly in Israel. So never say never.”
