Gervonta Davis’ Next Title Fight Confirmed

By The Spotlight StaffSeptember 30, 2024
Gervonta Davis' Next Title Fight Confirmed

On Monday, the World Boxing Association (WBA) Championships Committee approved the Super Featherweight (130 lb) Champion Lamont Roach to move to the 135 lb division. Roach (25-1-1) will face Gervonta Davis (30-0) for the Lightweight Title on December 14.

On September 13, NoXcuse Boxing sent the request letter to WBA.

“NoXcuse Boxing Promotions sent the formal request on September 13, which was received by the committee to be considered and consulted with the team of Albert Batyrgaziev, who is the mandatory 130 lbs. challenger.”

The committee has approved the request under a few conditions. If he defeats Davis, Roach should inform the WBA which title he will keep within five days. On the other hand, if he loses to Davis, Roach should defend his Super Featherweight Title within 120 days against the official challenger.

UPDATE: Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach has been rescheduled for March 1st at the Barclays Center in New York.
