Drew McIntyre made his return to WWE in 2017 after spending a few years in the Independent circuit. McIntyre won the 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble match and became the WWE Champion by defeating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36. He was the MVP of the pandemic era.
The Scottish Warrior was so close to winning the Undisputed WWE Championship at Clash at the Castle PLE before Solo Sikoa helped Reigns to retain the title.
The former WWE Champion is scheduled to compete against Gunther and Sheamus for the Intercontinental Championship on night two of WrestleMania 39.
PWInsider reported that Drew McIntyre’s WWE contract is scheduled to expire this year. They also noted that McIntyre and WWE “aren’t even close” to agreeing to a new contract.
Dave Meltzer also confirmed the PWInsider’s report and stated the following.
“I checked on it, and it’s correct. You know, it’s a long way away. We’re in April, and tons of stuff could happen between April and the end of the year, but what he wrote, that’s completely accurate.”
