CM Punk last competed at All Out pay-per-view, where he defeated Jon Moxley to win the AEW World Championship. During the All Out post-show media scrum, Punk blamed AEW’s EVPs, Adam Page and Colt Cabana.
Following the press conference, The 44-year-old star was involved in a backstage fight with Kenny Omega and Young Bucks which made a huge black mark in All Elite Wrestling. CM Punk was then suspended and stripped of his title by AEW President Tony Khan. Later, multiple news outlets reported that Punk suffered a triceps injury during the match. He successfully underwent the surgery last year.
A few months ago, Dave Meltzer reported that CM Punk is still under contract with AEW. Also, Meltzer noted that Punk and The Elite haven’t repaired their relationship yet.
Several times, CM Punk hinted on Instagram that he is not done with pro wrestling. Yesterday, Punk commented on an Instagram post referencing a backstage fight between Koko B. Ware and Steve Keirn.
“Great story about Gator and Koko fighting in the locker room and then lawler drags em in the office the next day and they squash it. Fascinating.”

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed CM Punk’s Instagram comment. Meltzer stated that he wanted to return to All Elite Wrestling.
“He brought up when Steve Kerin was in Memphis, he got into a fight with Koko Ware and he said that Lawler sat them down and that was it. It appears that he was trying to say that in wrestling in the past there’s fights. That situation was completely different.
What it says is that he wants back in. Which we’ve already known, other people have said that too, that he’s looking to get back in. It’s up to Tony (Khan) and Tony’s gonna make a decision at some point. He’s probably just about ready, if not ready already, from the torn triceps, so it is one of those things that he can do soon enough. It’s a tough decision.”
