Conor McGregor (22-6) was supposed to fight Michael Chandler (23-8) in the main event of UFC 303. Unfortunately, the welterweight fight was canceled due to McGregor suffering a broken toe.
The Notorious attended the Bellator Champions Series at the 3Arena in Dublin this past Saturday. During a backstage interview with Severe MMA, Conor McGregor provided an update on his injury.
“We just adjust. Everything is moving. Everything is moving parts, so I’m good. The injury is a nuisance. It’s painful. I’m not going to lie. It’s very, very painful—probably even more than the leg, and that’s the truth. I’ll tell you why: The leg was at least wrapped up. I couldn’t access it. The foot is just there still. It’s like it’s exposed or something. It’s a bit painful, but it comes with the territory. I need to just dial it in, get my training camps correct.”
The former double champ said he would likely compete in the octagon in August or September.
“August-September… August-September, I’d love. You know the way it is. I’m in recovery mode.”
McGregor last competed at UFC 264 in July 2021, where he lost to Dustin Poirier by first-round TKO. McGregor broke the tibia in his left leg during the fight.
