On Friday, UFC fighter Conor McGregor lost his civil case against plaintiff Nikita Hand in Dublin High Court. The jury found McGregor guilty of sexually assaulting Hand and ordered him to pay €248,603.60 ($258,440) in damages.
The alleged incident took place on December 9, 2018 at a Beacon Hotel penthouse suite in Sandyford, Dublin. Nikita Hand accused she was assaulted by McGregor and another person named James Lawrence at the hotel. However, the jury found Lawrence not guilty.
Conor McGregor issued the following statement:
“I will be appealing today’s decision. The judge’s instruction and the modest award given was for assault, not for aggravated or exemplary damages. I am disappointed that the jury did not hear all the evidence that the DPP reviewed. I am with my family now, focused on my future. Thank you to all my support worldwide ❤️🙏”
