Conor McGregor praised Donald Trump for running for the presidency after the Trump assassination attempt last month. However, McGregor seems to have changed his mind about Trump after he chose McGregor’s bitter rival, Khabib Nurmagomedov.
In an interview with Adin Ross, Donald Trump was asked who his favorite UFC fighter was. Trump named Khabib and praised his 29-0 undefeated professional MMA record.
Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov have not been on good terms for a long time. McGregor faced Khabib for the Lightweight Title at UFC 229 in 2018. Khabib won the fight via submission (neck crank) in round 4. After the fight, there was a massive brawl.
On X, Conor McGregor stated that Donald Trump naming Khabib as his favorite UFC fighter was a campaign-ending decision.
“Campaign ending decision. A smelly fat mountain monkey from the inbred mountains of Dagestan is your favorite UFC (AMERICAN COMPANY) fighter? Wow. Abysmal.”
In another post, the Irishman stated the following:
“I was actually wrong. Couple hundred million he is worth. Not multi B. I would have thought USA ONLY would be the mentality here and what I would want to see out of my president, personally. To pick a retired inbred fighter from Dagestan Russia who has 3 main events only to his name is astounding. Over all the American fighters that have backed him. It’s a shocking decision. He was caught on the spot. That won’t go unnoticed on the roster. This presidential race is very tight right now. More so now.”
