Since leaving The Bloodline, Jey Uso has found major success as a singles star. However, despite winning the World Championship at WrestleMania 2025, many fans still criticize him as a one-note act because of his “Yeet” entrance.
CM Punk recently addressed this backlash during an appearance on Busted Open Radio, where he strongly defended Jey Uso and called out the constant negativity within online wrestling communities.
“Jey Uso is phenomenal. He is 100%. We just live these lives that are so public that everybody wants to point fingers and laugh if we slip on a banana peel or make a mistake.”
Punk highlighted Jey Uso’s undeniable popularity with live audiences. He noted that Jey consistently receives massive reactions, moves huge amounts of merchandise, and connects with fans in a way few wrestlers can.
“I’m battling with John Cena and Jey Uso over who sells more T-shirts on any given night. Everybody’s going crazy for his music. They’re Yeeting. They want him to run it back. This dude can go on TV for 10 minutes and just Yeet. But then you go on the internet, and suddenly it’s, ‘Oh, he’s the worst wrestler alive.’ Is he? Or are you just being extremely hyperbolic?”
