CM Punk Finally Confirmed He'll Be In Chicago On Date Of AEW Rampage: First Dance

CM Punk is the hottest free agent in pro wrestling right now. Punk has been in the headlines after reports about his rumored in-ring return. Many fans are expecting his return on August 20th AEW Rampage at United Center in Chicago.

While speaking to Sunday Night’s Main Event podcast, CM Punk was asked about whether he’ll be at the United Center on that night. Punk said He’ll at an AMC in Chicago for the screening of Heels.

“When was that? Let me look at my calendar. What did you say it was, the 20th? I think I might actually be doing a screening…this isn’t confirmed yet so I probably shouldn’t be blasting this out everywhere, but we’re talking about doing a screening of episode three of Heels at an AMC in Chicago. That’s one of the dates that’s been proposed. So, I hope to see everyone there.”

AEW did numerous teases in the past few weeks. Most notable one is Darby Allin dropped a “best in the world” reference in a backstage segment on the July 28th episode of AEW Dynamite.

“Listen, best in the world, that could be anybody. That’s Bryan, right? That’s my assumption. I hear best in the world, I think Bryan. I think Darby Allin is great. I think everyone in the wrestling world needs to never do a dive ever again because you can’t do it better than Darby.”

CM Punk also revealed his early discussions with Tony Khan. He told Khan that it was not a good idea to compete with other wrestling promoters. He also said that when you start a wrestling company, it is better to focus on your own wrestling company instead of others.

“I talked to Tony (at that time). My perspective on this, and I said this to his face, I’m a guy who has constantly heard, ‘I have a money guy. I have TV.’ I heard that once or twice a year for 15-20 years. I’ve gotten bounced checks from those gentlemen. You watched it happen, especially after ECW folded. Everybody was restarting ECW. It always seems like somebody is like, ‘We’re going to start up and compete with Vince.’ I always thought that came from a bad spot. If you want to start a wrestling company, you should focus on yourself. I more or less took a wait-and-see approach. I’m not interested in pro wrestling in that respect. We’re here, we’re talking about Heels, it could be bad luck that this role I got is set in the world of pro wrestling, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles. I’m focused on being an actor.”
