Carlito has made sporadic appearances on WWE television after he was released from the company in 2010. Carlito competed at the 2021 Royal Rumble, where he was eliminated by Elias. A month later, he teamed with Jeff Hardy to defeat Elias and Jaxson Ryker on Monday Night RAW.
Last month, Bad Bunny faced Damian Priest in a San Juan Street Fight at Backlash. During the match, Carlito made his return with a huge ovation from Puerto Rican fans. He then helped Bunny and LWO to fight against Judgement Day.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer reported that Carlito was scheduled to compete in an independent promotion on July 15th. However, Carlito has told the promoter that he has signed with WWE and to remove him from the show.
“Well, the only thing that I know is he had an independent show on July 15 for Devon Nicholson in Canada, and he called him up to cancel and said that he has signed with WWE. So… perhaps he has signed with WWE, it wouldn’t surprise me. He got that big pop in Puerto Rico so maybe he’s back. We’ll have to wait and see. Maybe they have a storyline for him. That’s what Devon Nicholson said today.”
