This past Wednesday, Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli faced Orange Cassidy and Kazuchika Okada in the main event of AEW Dynamite. In the closing moment, Cassidy delivered an Orange Punch to Danielson. Okada hit a Rainmaker on The American Dragon. Castagnoli then entered the ring and delivered an Uppercut on the International Champion to win the bout.
After the match, Bryan Danielson clutched one side of the face while the medical team was checking on him. The rest of the others awkwardly stood tall in the ring.
Last night, Claudio Castagnoli appeared on AEW Collision in a pre-recorded segment and revealed that Bryan Danielson had suffered a broken orbital bone. Tony Schiavone announced that Danielson will require surgery and will be out for the rest of the year. Many fans thought this was an angle for a potential storyline.
PWInsider reported that Bryan Danielson was legitimately injured this past Wednesday.
“For those who have asked about whether the announced Bryan Danielson broken orbital bone was legitimate or not, we have confirmed with AEW sources that the injury is not storyline.”
Back in June, Bryan Danielson fractured his right forearm during the match against Kazuchika Okada at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. Danielson made his return after recovering from the injury last month.
