Roman Reigns signed a new contract with WWE in the second half of last year. Since then, Reigns has sporadically appeared on WWE television. In 2022, Reigns wrestled 52 times on WWE television and live events. Reigns has only defended his Undisputed WWE Universal Title 9 times so far this year.
The Tribal Chief last defended his title at Crown Jewel, where he defeated LA Knight. Since then, Reigns has been absent from WWE.
As of now, many fans are complaining about Roman Reigns’ part-time schedule. WWE Hall of Famer Booker T addressed the criticism about Reigns’ limited matches during his Hall of Fame Podcast.
“You know, people are gonna find something to complain about all the time. I think one of the biggest complaints was guys work too much… Go back to the old days and just think about how many times Hogan worked on television in a calendar year. Might be less than that, and nobody was bigger than Hogan… Can you imagine a boxer boxing 22 times in a year? Or an MMA fighter fighting 22 times in a year? 22 times is actually a lot. That’s just the way I look at it. So I look at the pros and cons of it. If Roman wasn’t selling no tickets, we could talk.”
Note: Roman Reigns has actually wrestled 11 times so far this year.
