WWE has had a great relationship with TNA Wrestling for a long time. Two years ago, Mickie James competed in the Women’s Royal Rumble while holding the TNA Knockouts Championship. Jordynne Grace also competed in this year’s Women’s Royal Rumble.
This past Tuesday, TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace appeared on WWE NXT. Grace is scheduled to face Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s Championship on Sunday, June 9 at Battleground.
WrestleVotes reported that WWE management loved Jordynne Grace’s performance at Royal Rumble last January and was eager to use her again. They also noted that the company has plans to bring in more TNA stars in due time.
“While the exact details of the deal are unknown (as they should be), I’m told the partnership between WWE and TNA has been months in the making. WWE loved the feedback and energy from Jordynne Grace’s Rumble appearance and were eager to use her again—opportunely.
There are tentative plans for additional superstars to make crossover appearances in due time. Both companies understand that a slow, thoughtful approach is the best way forward in the beginning stages.”
