In the past few years, several MMA fighters joined WWE such as Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, and Matt Riddle.
Amanda Nunes, a Brazilian professional MMA fighter made her Octagon debut against Ana Maria at Prime: MMA Championship 2 in 2008. The Lioness made her UFC debut against Sheila Gaff at UFC 163 in 2013. She won the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title at UFC 200 after defeating Miesha Tate via rear-naked choke. At UFC 232, Nunes captured the Women’s Featherweight Championship after a knockout victory over Cris Cyborg.
Nunes had her last fight this past Saturday at UFC 289 against Irene Aldana for the Women’s Bantamweight Championship. She had a 23-5 professional MMA record.
Prior to UFC 289, Amanda Nunes was interviewed by New York Post. During the interview, Nunes was asked if she has an interest in joining WWE. She said that it depends on the offer.
“It depends on the contract, you know? (If she’d go to WWE) If the contract is amazing, why not? What I wanted to do in MMA, I did already — even more than I thought in my head when I went through my whole career. I became a double champion. I wanted only one — I had two … I’m so happy, and whatever comes after I’m done with UFC, we’ll see. For sure, you guys will see me around anyways.”
