Andrade made his AEW debut on the June 4th, 2021 episode of AEW Dynamite as Andrade El Idolo. He had an underwhelming run in AEW.

The 33-year-old star last competed at All Out pay-per-view, where he faced Claudio Castagnoli, Dante Martin, Penta El Zero Miedo, Rey Fenix, Rush, and Wheeler Yuta in a Casino Ladder match.

Last October, Andrade was supposed to compete against The Dark Order’s 10 in a Career vs Mask match on AEW Rampage. He was involved in a backstage altercation with Sammy Guevara at AEW Dynamite. As a result, Andrade’s match was canceled.

In an interview with Lucha Libre Online, Andrade stated that his AEW contract expires soon.

“I’m with AEW, to make it clear. Soon my contract will expire. I had a tear in my chest and I got surgery in November. I was out for 4 months but soon I’ll be back. I was at the Hall of Fame accompanying my wife and to be next to a great friend Rey Mysterio…He’s the symbol for all the Latinos, Rey Mysterio.”
