This past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam took place at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York. The show kicked off with the Title vs. Title match between Claudio Castagnoli and Eddie Kingston. NJPW Strong Openweight Champion Eddie Kingston pinned Castagnoli with a Powerbomb. After the match, Castagnoli shook Kingston’s hand and gave the ROH World Championship.
In a backstage segment, Christian Cage challenged Darby Allin to face him and Luchasaurus in a Triple Threat Match for the TNT Championship this Saturday on AEW Collision.
Chris Jericho defeated Sammy Guevera with a Codebreaker. After the match, Jericho and Guevera hugged each other. A moment later, Guevera hit a low blow on Jericho and joined Don Callis’ family.
Rey Fenix defeated Jon Moxley to become the new International Champion.
Saraya defeated Toni Storm to retain the AEW Women’s Championship.
In the main event, MJF defended his AEW World Championship against Samoa Joe. MJF put Coquina Clutch on Joe to win the bout. Joe and MJF shook hands after the match.
According to Nielsen via SpoilerTV, the September 20th episode of AEW Dynamite drew 984,000 viewers on TBS and a 0.36 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
