This past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite took place at the North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston, South Carolina. The show kicked off with the TNT Championship match between Christian Cage and Dustin Rhodes. Christian defeated Dustin with a Killswitch to retain the title.
Orange Cassidy and Trent Beretta defeated Komander and Penta El Zero Miedo. After the match, Undisputed Kingdom came to the ring. Roderick Strong challenged Cassidy to a match for the International Championship at AEW Revolution.
Renee Paquette had a sit-down interview with Matt & Nick Jackson. The Young Bucks talked about online rumors and the upcoming tag team match against Sting and Darby Allin at AEW Revolution.
Bullet Club Gold defeated The Mogul Embassy to become the new ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions.
In a backstage segment, Adam Cole said that Wardlow would become the most dominant AEW professional wrestler of all time.
Deonna Purrazzo defeated Anna Jay.
Private Party (Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy) defeated Top Flight (Dante & Darius Martin) in a Tag Team match.
In the main event, Samoa Joe defeated FTW Champion Hook to retain the AEW World Championship. Joe attacked Hook after the match. Adam Page made the save. Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana appeared through the crowd and stared at Page.
According to Nielsen via Wrestlenomics, the January 17th episode of AEW Dynamite drew 891,000 viewers on TBS and a 0.33 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
