AEW Dynamite took place at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City. The show kicked off with the Continental Classic’s Gold League match between Swerve Strickland and Rush. Strickland defeated Rush to earn 3 points. With that win, he has a total of 12 points.
In a backstage segment, Chris Jericho wished Kenny Omega a speedy recovery. The Ocho said that The Golden Jets would resume once Omega was medically cleared to compete.
Mark Briscoe defeated Jay Lethal to earn his first three points in the tournament.
Samoa Joe came to the ring to seek an answer for who the person behind the Devil Mask is. Joe called out MJF to come to the ring. The two exchanged a few words, and MJF shoved Joe. Several masked men surrounded the AEW World Champion and Samoa Joe. The arena’s lights went dark. The person wearing the devil mask appeared on the big screen and challenged MJF & Joe for the ROH World Tag Team Titles. Joe accepted the challenge.
Riho defeated Saraya to become the No. 1 contender for the AEW Women’s Championship. Riho will face Toni Storm for the title at Worlds End.
Roderick Strong defeated Komander. After the match, Strong once again accused MJF of being the person behind the mask.
In the main event, Jay White defeated Jon Moxley to earn another three points. With that victory, Switchblade has a total of 12 points.
According to Nielsen via SpoilerTV, the December 20th episode of AEW Dynamite drew an average of 782,000 viewers on TBS and a 0.26 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
