This past Saturday’s AEW Collision took place at the Brandt Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan. CM Punk kicked off the show and addressed the fans. In the promo, Punk stated the importance of facing Samoa Joe for the first time in 18 years.
Ricky Starks defeated PowerHouse Hobbs to qualify for the finals in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. During the match, QT Marshall interfered in the match, which cost Hobbs the opportunity to advance to the finals in the tournament. After the match, Hobbs cut ties with Marshall.
Jay White and Juice Robinson defeated FTR in a tag team match. As a result, Bullet Club Gold earned an AEW World Tag Team Championship opportunity. Bullet Club Gold vs. FTR in a 2 Out of 3 Falls match for the Tag Titles was made official for next week.
In the main event, CM Punk defeated Samoa Joe. After the match, Joe and Punk shook hands, but then Joe put a Samoan Submission on Punk.
According to Nielsen via Wrestlenomics, the July 8th episode of AEW Collision drew 580,000 viewers on TNT and a 0.21 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
The previous episode (July 1) drew 452,000 viewers on TNT and a 0.13 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
