Then-WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out on the May 15th episode of RAW after a creative meeting with Vince McMahon.

Following the incident, on the May 20th episode of SmackDown, commentator Michael Cole announced both Sasha Banks and Naomi have been suspended indefinitely and stripped from the Women’s Tag Team Titles. Cole also stated that there will be a tournament to crown the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions in the coming weeks but he did not specify the exact date.

During last night’s episode of SmackDown, WWE announced that WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament will begin on the upcoming Monday on RAW.
