Last year, Johnny Gargano announced that he had suffered a shoulder injury at the December 30th WWE Live Event in Toronto, Canada. In that show, Gargano teamed with Dexter Lumis to defeat The Miz and Baron Corbin.
In January, the former NXT Champion revealed that he had sprained his AC joint. The doctors have told him the recovery time would be five to six weeks. However, Gargano was able to return to the squared circle at the men’s Royal Rumble match.
Earlier this month, Johnny Gargano competed at the NXT Stand & Deliver, where he defeated Grayson Waller in an Unsanctioned match. Since then, Gargano disappeared from WWE television.
Fightful Select reported that Johnny Gargano re-aggravated his shoulder injury after competing in the men’s Royal Rumble match. The WWE management believes that Gargano can repair the injury with physical therapy.
“Fightful Select has learned that Gargano re-aggravated the shoulder injury that had him sidelined for much of January. After only having a couple of matches his first few weeks back, Gargano ended up wrestling a dozen matches after March 4.
We’re told that the shoulder injury got worse after his Royal Rumble return, and by the time of the NXT match with Grayson Waller he was severely hampered and using one arm. The hope from the company is that he can repair the injury with physical therapy as opposed to surgery.”
