WWE Lays Off Several Employees

By The Spotlight StaffDecember 2, 2023
WWE Lays Off Several Employees

In late September, WWE laid off more than 100 employees after the formation of TKO Group Holdings. At the time, the company also released several talents from the main roster, NXT, and Performance Center.

Dolph Ziggler, Matt Riddle, Mustafa Ali, and Elias were among them. The Ultimate Warrior’s Widow, Dana Warrior, was also among the corporate employees that released last September.

On Friday, Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics reported that WWE laid off several employees. Thurston noted that the finance, sales and partnerships team, human relations, and production departments were affected by layoffs.

Several executive-level employees were also laid off from the company on Friday, including:

  • Michael Weitz (SVP of Financial Planning)
  • Craig Stimmel (Head of Global Sales & Partnerships)
  • Karen Mullane (Controller & Chief Accounting Officer)
  • Stewart Frey (SVP of Streaming Technology)
  • Matt Geyer (SVP of Gaming)

WWE NXT’s McKenzie Mitchell was the only confirmed on-screen talent that let go by Friday’s cuts.
