Rey Mysterio sustained a legitimate injury during the January 26 episode of WWE RAW while competing in a match against Austin Theory. The incident raised immediate concern, as Mysterio was noticeably absent from the post-match beatdown that followed.
After the bout, The Vision attacked Dragon Lee and Penta, but Mysterio did not participate. Instead, the referee signaled the situation by throwing up the “X,” a sign typically reserved for real injuries, as the WWE Hall of Famer clutched his shoulder at ringside. The visual quickly sparked speculation among fans regarding the severity of the injury.
While WWE has not officially confirmed the exact nature of Mysterio’s condition, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported that the injury is “not serious,” easing some concerns about Rey’s status moving forward.
Despite the scare, Mysterio appears to be continuing with scheduled plans. Rey confirmed via Instagram that he is traveling to Saudi Arabia ahead of the Royal Rumble. He shared a photo on the plane alongside Penta and Dragon Lee, with all three wrestlers unmasked during the flight.
