On December 14th, Liv Morgan (real name Gionna Daddio) was arrested for possession of marijuana. Morgan was charged with possession of drugs, possibly synthetic cannabinoids, and possession of marijuana (not more than 20 grams).
The possession of drugs, possibly synthetic cannabinoids, is a felony in Florida. However, that charge against Liv Morgan was dropped on January 2nd.
KOMO News was told by an assistant state attorney in Sumter County that the charge has been dropped because the state has no facility to prove it.
“In order to prove the charge possession of THC, the State is required to prove that the THC came from synthetic sources and was not derived from plant sources.
No labs in the State of Florida perform such tests, so we remanded it to county court as Possession of Cannabis.”
Liv Morgan’s attorney, Jack A. Goldberger, told The Messenger that he and his client were extremely pleased with the decision.
“We are extremely pleased that the State Attorney’s office made the correct decision to not pursue felony charges against Gionna.”
Morgan has a status conference for the charge of possession of marijuana (not more than 20 grams) on February 20th.
