Former WWE Star Virgil Passes Away At Age 61

We are saddened to learn that Michael Jones, known to pro wrestling fans as Virgil, has passed away at the age of 61.

Referee Mark Charles III announced the news of Virgil’s passing on Facebook.

“My dear friends, it is with great sorrow that I bring news from the Jones family of the passing of our beloved Michael Jones, whom we know and loved as Virgil, Vincent, Soul Train Jones and more.

Virgil passed peacefully at the hospital this morning and I ask that you pray for him and for his family.

May his memory be eternal!”

Virgil started his pro wrestling career in 1985. Two years later, he was signed by WWE as Ted DiBiase’s bodyguard. In 1994, Virgil left Vince McMahon’s promotion and competed on the independent circuit. He retired from pro wrestling in 2000.
