On Friday, Demetrious Johnson announced his retirement from MMA at ONE 168 in Denver, Colorado. Johnson was inducted into the ONE Championship Hall of Fame by ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong during the show. He also became the first-ever inductee into the promotion’s Hall of Fame.
The inaugural UFC Flyweight Champion and current ONE Flyweight Champion said the following:
“Like I said last time when I came to Denver, Colo., I told you guys it was potentially my last fight, and I was not lying. I am done. I am done competing in mixed martial arts, and I want to thank you guys so much for giving me the opportunity.”
Demetrious Johnson (33-4, 1 Draw) made his ONE Championship debut on March 31st, 2019 at ONE: A New Era, where he defeated Yuya Wakamatsu by submission (guillotine choke) in round 2.
Johnson last competed at ONE Fight Night 10, where he defeated Adriano Moraes via unanimous decision to retain the ONE Flyweight Championship.
