Vince McMahon and Dana White became business partners after WWE and UFC merged to form TKO Group Holdings in September.
Recently, Dana White stated that his relationship with McMahon wasn’t good in the past. In White’s words, he said: “He tried to f— me so many times for no reason whatsoever except just to f— me.” McMahon then responded to White during an interview at the Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou fight.
CEO of UFC Dana White appeared on the Triggered podcast, where he revealed how Vince McMahon prevented them from getting a TV deal with NBC.
“I never saw Vince as a competition but I think.. you know his heyday he saw everybody as a competition. You know, he was one of those guys who just f–king stick it to me for whatever reason. We’re about to do a deal with NBC and it ends up we get to the one-yard line, Vince has the final say on who can go on USA Network and who can’t if you are a combat sport.
And.. Lorenzo and I flew out to Connecticut to sit down with him. We’re like.. ‘We are doing a deal with NBC.’ And Vince just sits back like Vince sits in. We said, ‘We’re about to do this deal, our fights on NBC but you need to signoff it.’
“Yeah, I’m not going to do that.” [Vince McMahon told Dana White and Lorenzo.] We’re like.. why? Eh, I’m not that interested in it. I don’t like the idea of you guys on USA Network. So, the whole deal blows up. At the end of the day it all worked out better because we ended up on FOX.
Now, Vince and I, you know, we’re in a business together, Vince couldn’t be a better partner now. He’s been an incredible partner.”
