CM Punk kicked off this week’s AEW Dynamite to hype his next week’s Undisputed AEW World Championship match against Jon Moxley. Punk was supposed to address Moxley in his entire promo but he started the promo by shooting on former AEW World Champion Adam Page.

The AEW World Champion called out Adam Page for a rematch for the title prior to doing a promo on Interim AEW World Champion Jon Moxley. However, Page did not appear during the segment.

PWInsider reported that “there was no interaction with Punk and Page before, during or after” this week’s AEW Dynamite.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Punk’s AEW Dynamite promo on Adam Page was not a part of the script.

“If you’re wondering about the CM Punk thing at the start of the show with Adam Page – That was weird. For everyone, as in, nobody knew he was going to do that. If you remember months ago when they were feuding and I said there’s a lot of reality to it, well, there’s a lot of reality to it. I don’t know what the deal was and nobody else does either.“

H/T Ringside News

The reason for CM Punk calling out Adam Page was due to a previous comment made by Page during their storyline three months ago. Prior to dropping the AEW World Title at Double or Nothing, Adam Page stated that he needed to protect AEW from Punk.

We will update you when we receive more details. Stay tuned with The Spotlight.
