CM Punk last competed at AEW All Out pay-per-view where he defeated Jon Moxley to win the AEW World Championship. However, Punk was stripped of the title due to the backstage fight with The Elite during the All Out media scrum.

The Elite was also stripped of the AEW World Trios Championship. Tony Khan then suspended everyone who was involved in the fight and the incident was investigated by an independent investigation firm. As a result, Ace Steel who is a close friend of Punk got fired from the company. The Elite made their return at Full Gear pay-per-view last month.

There were a lot of rumors circulated on social media regarding CM Punk’s status with the company. one report noted that Tony Khan is in talks with Punk about buying out Punk’s contract.

However, Wrestling Observer Newsletter has reported that CM Punk is still under contract with All Elite Wrestling.

“Punk as of the weekend was still under contract to AEW and being paid and those close to him say the hold up on his being released is all on the AEW side as he’s ready and willing to move to his next project.”

We will update you when we receive more details. Stay tuned with The Spotlight.
