This past Saturday, Adam Copeland kicked off AEW Collision. However, Copeland was interrupted by Christian Cage, Luchasaurus, and Nick Wayne. Christian came to the ring along with several security guards. Bryan Danielson, Ricky Starks, and FTR were also featured in the opening segment.
At one point, The Rated R Superstar and Ricky Starks had a heated conversation. Adam Copeland said Ricky is a “vanilla midget version” of The Rock. Copeland then told Ricky to “shut your mouth and talk to him [Danielson] instead of me kid.” Copeland also said, “Know your role.” Ricky Starks replied, “Wow that really set me over the edge.”
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer discussed the unplanned moment between Adam Copeland and Ricky Starks.
“It was awkward. I mean, it was very clear that something got started, and they were, at that point, it was not scripted. One of them got a little bit mad and the other one got mad back, I mean, you can make it work, there’s nothing wrong with it, but it wasn’t smooth, I was like ‘Where is this going?’ They’re professionals, and they finished it. You know, it was that vanilla midget line, like wow, what a terrible line, you know what I mean? It was just brutal.”
