By The Spotlight StaffJuly 19, 2024
WWE's Current Plan For CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre SummerSlam Match

WWE SummerSlam is scheduled to take place on August 3rd at the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. Although not yet announced, the highly anticipated CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre match is set for the show.

Seth Rollins made his return to WWE on the June 17th episode of Monday Night RAW. Rollins competed for the World Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank PLE earlier this month.

WrestleVotes reported that WWE’s current plan is to add The Visionary as the special guest referee for the Punk vs. McIntyre match at SummerSlam.

“Source states the current plans have Seth Rollins as the special guest referee for the CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre SummerSlam match.

Creative is proceeding under the assumption that Punk will be ready for action, with the anticipated clearance date set for the Monday beforehand, 7/29.”

WWE has advertised the following matches for SummerSlam so far:

  • Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Solo Sikoa
  • World Heavyweight Championship: Damian Priest (c) vs. Gunther
  • Women’s World Championship: Liv Morgan (c) vs. Rhea Ripley
  • WWE Women’s Championship: Bayley (c) vs. Nia Jax
