Last month, William Regal departed from All Elite Wrestling. MJF attacked Regal on the November 30th episode of AEW Dynamite and it was the perfect way to get him off AEW television.
It was later revealed that William Regal was informed AEW legal team not to renew his contract. AEW President Tony Khan then added a year-long non-compete clause to Regal that prevents him from working on-screen in WWE.
William Regal officially began working with WWE on Wednesday, January 4th. PWInsider reported that Regal has been appointed as Vice President, Global Talent Development.
“PWInsider.com has confirmed that William Regal’s official title for his new role in WWE is Vice President, Global Talent Development.”
William Regal issued the following statement on December 30th before joining WWE. In the statement, Regal thanked Tony Khan, the wrestlers, and all of the AEW employees.
“Yesterday was my last official day with @AEW. I’d like to thank @TonyKhan, Megha and all the hard working crew. Contrary to people who’ve never spoken to me or have their information from people who don’t know me or are trying to make themselves noticed,I had a lovely time..(1/2)
(2/2) ….working there and had a great time. Lots of talented Wrestlers, and lovely people to work for. To my fellow BCC members, it was a special, albeit brief few months but it cemented our already strong friendship. To everyone there, thank you for welcoming me. Best wishes.”
