On February 19th, Daria Rae Berenato, also known as WWE superstar Sonya Deville, was arrested for possession of a firearm in New Jersey. A valet employee of the Atlantic City Casino-Hotel found the firearm in Deville’s car glove box.
The firearm was lawfully purchased and registered in another state. However, she didn’t have a permit to possess it in New Jersey. Therefore, the 30-year-old was charged with one count of unlawful possession of a handgun without a permit. Jim Walsh of Courier Post has provided more details about Deville’s charge.
According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Sonya Deville has resolved the charge by finishing six months in a pretrial intervention program late last month. On May 25th, Superior Court Judge Bernard DeLury Jr. approved her entry into the pretrial intervention program.
Sonya Deville possessed the firearm for self-protection after she faced a stalking incident in August 2020.
