On Saturday, Variety reported that WWE once again decided to change its RAW & SmackDown announce team. WWE later confirmed Variety’s report. The changes will be effective from tonight’s WWE RAW.
Michael Cole and Wade Barrett will serve as the commentators for the red brand. Cole has a double duty from this Monday onward as he will also remain on the blue brand’s commentary team. Kevin Patrick and Corey Graves will join Cole on the August 11th episode of SmackDown onward.
PWInsider reported that Endeavor and the broadcast partners (USA Network & FOX) demanded WWE to put Michael Cole on WWE RAW & SmackDown announce team. It’s because Cole is the most experienced announcer in WWE. PWInsider added that WWE management has confidence in Michael Cole and Corey Graves. They believe both will help Kevin Patrick to improve his announcing skills. PWInsider confirmed that WWE has high hopes for Patrick. The changes weren’t seen as a demotion for Patrick.
