Texas Attorney General Responds To WWE Lawsuit

Last February, WWE filed a lawsuit against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and is seeking a judgment and injunction from the 345th Civil District Court in Travis County to prevent the release of the 2023 Royal Rumble License Agreement with Alamodome.

Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics requested the license agreement from the Texas Governor’s Office to find out how much the city government paid WWE to host the event. Recently, the company stated in a sworn declaration that WWE would lose its bargaining power if the details were made public.

On May 20th, Ken Paxton’s office submitted “a general denial to all allegations in Plaintiff’s [WWE] Petition.” Dennis McKinney, Assistant Attorney General, asked the judge to declare “the information at issue to be subject to disclosure.” AAG also asked the judge to order the plaintiff to pay all court costs related to this lawsuit.
