Santos Escobar along with Zelina Vegan, Joaquin Wilde, and Cruz Del Toro made their main roster debut on the October 7th episode of Friday Night SmackDown as Legado Del Fantasma. The faction members portrayed themselves as heels on WWE television.
Two weeks ago, Santos Escobar and Rey Mysterio had a backstage segment that aired on WWE’s social media. In that segment, Escobar and Rey handed their masks to each other to show respect.
This past Friday on SmackDown, Escobar stood up on behalf of Rey Mysterio when Dominik disrespects his father.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that Santos Escobar would be playing a major role in the Rey-Dominik storyline.
“There’s got to be a reason why they linked Rey and Santos Escobar, so maybe Santos Escobar, you know Dominik and Judgment Day do something and Rey has to make the save, because they were pushing the hell out of, you Rey and Dominik, and the people really wanted Rey to hit him, and Rey didn’t hit him, and we have to be getting pretty darn close to that one. Santos Escobar has to fit in there somewhere, because the whole Rey and Santos Escobar thing came out of the blue.”
