Footage Of Shakur Stevenson Injuring His Right Hand During Sparring

Shakur Stevenson (22-0) was supposed to defend his WBC Lightweight (135 lb) Championship against Joe Cordina (17-1) on October 12 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, the match had to be canceled after Stevenson suffered a hand injury during sparring.

ESPN’s Mike Coppinger posted the moment Shakur Stevenson injured his right hand. As you can see in the below video, Stevenson suffered a hand injury after delivering a body shot to the sparring partner.

On Wednesday, the 27-year-old underwent surgery to repair tears to his sagittal band and collateral ligament. Stevenson stated that he expects to return to the ring in early 2025.
