CM Punk is a controversial figure in pro wrestling. Last month, Punk made headlines after taking shots at Adam Page. He also became a talking point in pro wrestling due to a backstage incident with Jack Perry at All In. As of now, the Real World Champion has been suspended from All Elite Wrestling.
On Wednesday, CM Punk was presented with the Iron Mike Mazurki Award at the Cauliflower Alley Club for his contributions to the pro wrestling industry. Punk did a 40-minute acceptance speech and at one point, he commented on people who don’t like him.
“When people tell me that they don’t like me or that the internet is mad at me, I just chuckle because Roddy Piper liked me. Dusty Rhodes liked me, and Harley Race liked me. And that means more than anything else in the world because these legends put their stamp on me before anyone else did. It gave me the confidence, and it gave me the ability to succeed.”
