AJPW Reportedly Has Mixed Feelings About Their Partnership With WWE

Vince McMahon wasn’t very keen on working with other wrestling promotions when he oversaw the WWE product. McMahon has worked with other promotions only a few times over the past four decades. However, after the WWE & UFC merger, TKO Group Holdings is willing to work with Japanese promotions.

Recently, the company sent NXT star Charlie Dempsey to compete in All Japan Pro Wrestling. Dempsey wrestled three matches in AJPW. Dempsey last competed on January 3rd at the New Year Giant Series 2024, where he lost to Katsuhiko Nakajima for the Triple Crown Championship.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer reported that some people in AJPW have mixed feelings about their working relationship with WWE.

“I was told it’s an ongoing thing, although there are certainly people in All Japan who have mixed feelings on it. But right now, that’s the president of All Japan [decision]. And, you know, WWE, they’ve got a deal going right now.”
