Last December, Charlotte Flair made her WWE return and defeated Ronda Rousey for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Charlotte then defended the SmackDown Women’s Title on several live events.

This past Saturday, Charlotte Flair dropped the title to Rhea Ripley on night one of WrestleMania 39. The match exceeded expectations. Many fans stated that it was one of the greatest women’s matches in WWE history.

Following her WrestleMania loss, Charlotte Flair issued a statement on Twitter. Charlotte thanked the fans and stated that the SmackDown Women’s Title is in good hands.

PWInsider reported that Charlotte Flair would be taking a time off from WWE. She is not scheduled for the upcoming SmackDown.

“We are told that Flair informed WWE she would be taking a break from the company over Wrestlemania 39 weekend. WWE’s creative plans for the Smackdown Women’s Championship, moving it to Rhea Ripley, were locked in place before Flair told WWE she would be taking a break.”

In a recent interview with ESPN, the 14-time women’s champion said that she is scheduled to compete in a bodybuilding competition this summer.
